SES Character Award Winners
Student of the month of August for Responsibility is Hannah Martin from Mrs. Thurman’s class.
Hannah is hearing impaired and wears hearing aides and an auditory trainer.
Daily, before putting on her auditory trainer, I remove and check her hearing aide batteries on a meter and listen to her aides with a special stethoscope to see that they are functioning correctly.
Hannah shows responsibility in that she removes her aides by herself and has asked to learn how to use the meter to check the batteries. She also has volunteered to assist me when I use the stethoscope by holding the listening end onto her aides while I have the other ends in my ears. She then puts her aides back in her ears by herself, and informs me if they are working or not.
When we consider that she is only 5 years old, it is very impressive to see the active role she takes in being responsible for the equipment that helps her to hear.
Adult of the month of August for Responsibility is Michael Gregg.
Michael Gregg is one of our fourth grade teachers and he has taken on the responsibility of being the schools technology person.
Over the summer there were many changes in the technology department; our school had the addition of promethium boards and various teachers moved classrooms. All these changes had Michael spend many hours at school before it started to get all the teachers ready with their technology.
Michael continues to go above and beyond not only in the area of technology but also his duties as a classroom teacher. Michael is an example to all for great character and responsibility.
