Southern Elementary December winner for adult of the month for the word: Compassion
Mrs. Libby Beebe
Libby is a Kindergarten instructional aide and has a heart as big as Kentucky.
Not a day goes by when she does not have a kind, compassionate word for the students that she works with every day. She truly cares about each and every one of them. She hugs, gives an extra kind word to those who are having a difficult day.
Her compassion doesn’t stop with the children, she has a kind heart for her fellow staff, and concerned about others. She has dealt with the loss of her father-in-law and her husband who is battling cancer this year. Yet, she comes to school every day with a smile on her face, and she is always asking other staff members about their families.
She is genuinely concerned about others; she shows empathy for those in need of anything with prayer and kind, uplifting words.
She cares about the needs and feelings of others and for this reason I believe she deserves the award for Compassion.
December student of the month for Compassion: Kelly Dugger
Kelly is very shy, or at least she was…. She was friendly with everyone, but not overly talkative.
When our class received a new student a couple of months ago, Kelly rose to the occasion and made this student feel welcome in every way.
Our new student speaks no English, and even with the language barrier Kelly makes sure to include her in everything that she does.
She makes sure that every morning Kim has all her stuff out, helps her with the phonics books, reads with her, walks with her at lunch, and makes sure she has someone to talk to. Now, it is funny to listen to the two of them converse with each other, one is speaking English and the other Vietnamese, but somehow they always understand each other.
