SES Character Award Winners

Adult of the Month for October for Courage: Wanda Large.

Mrs. Wanda Large always has a smile on her face and is the most positive person that I know. As a cancer survivor, Mrs. Large is a role model to all; men and women alike.

She is always positive. She approaches all of the life’s hurdles as just that, she simply finds the strength to move forward while always retaining her contagious smile.

Because of her courage and optimism, Mrs. Large inspires those around her to be great. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Large as part of our SES family. We have all learned many valuable lessons from her.

Student of the month October for Courage: Nina Hitchcock

In Mrs. Lawanda Carr, 1st grade class.

I would like to nominate Nina Hitchcock for the character word Courage.

Nina was a girl that had everything, at least everything that mattered. She had hopes of her mother meeting her at the door when she got off the bus. She had hopes of her mother making cupcakes for a school party. She had hopes that her mother would one day watch her graduate high school and then college. She had hopes that one day her mom would kiss her on the cheek as she was given to the groom.

At the beginning of the school year Nina’s mom was brutally shot in the face and head. The bullet ricocheted in her head damaging much of the brain. She had to have immediate surgery where part of the brain had to be removed. She is now in a coma and in a vegetable like state.

Now, Nina is left in this world without knowing what it would feel like to have a mother and she has managed to smile despite her circumstances. Nina deserves a time to stand in the limelight, to be noticed for her Courage! To be encouraged for the courage that she will forever have to have in this world alone…. without her mom.

Please help me make a difference in the life of a child. Please choose Nina to be our representative for the character word: Courage!
