John Sherman Cooper Power Plant
On January 15, 2010, Pulaski County gifted students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) had the privilege to visit Eastern Kentucky Power Plant. They were able to learn about the process of electricity from coal to the electrical outlet.
They learned about the technology skills that are involved in the process of making electricity through hands-on activities.

Students learned about the different job skills that are necessary to work at the Eastern Kentucky Power Plant.
Students learned that the electricity plant has to abide by state and federal environmental standards in order to produce and process electricity.

Students were able to apply their knowledge of electricity during the tour and presentations at the power plant.
Students were able to identify career opportunities related to energy at our local facility and how it contributes to our local economy.
