August 2015: Responsibility winners
Student of the month: Addison Atwood.
I would like to nominate Addison Atwood for the word Responsibility. Addison comes in every morning and puts her things away without me having to remind her. She brings her folder to me, and informs me if she has any notes from her grownup.
Addison's responsibility has allowed me to give her extra jobs within the classroom, such as taking notes to Ms. Stacy or papers to Mrs. Cindi. I can also count on her to help another student if they are unsure of where to go in the building. I know that she will get the student where they need to be safely, and return to class promptly.
Responsibility is a big accomplishment at any age, but especially when you are in first grade. I am proud of Addison for the responsibility that she takes each day in making sure she has completed all of her tasks for the day.
Adult of the month: Kristy Hudson.
I would like to nominate Kristy Hudson as the adult of the month for Responsibility.
She is the person that takes care of initial referrals for special education all the way through until students are either eligible or not eligible. She handles students’ records when they transfer into Southern Elementary to ensure their special education services continue. Kristy not only works as liaison for Southern Elementary, but she has the same role at Shopville Elementary.
She works closely together with the student’s case managers and facilitates meetings to start, continue or end the individual services.
The number of students that need services has increased over the years and this has made the caseload of the liaison much greater than previous years.
Kristy is a person that feels very passionately about having all students regardless of their need become a successful part of today's and tomorrow's society.
