October 2015: Courage winners.
Student of the month: Sharon Markin
Sharon Markin deserves the character award for Courage. Sharon has come to us from Frankfort, and her parents are South African Natives. She has been courageous in coming to a new school with a positive attitude and a huge smile every day. She has been successful in making new friends, learning our expectations, and working through our content.
She is a very hard worker and has adapted wonderfully. Being able to do all these things takes courage, which is why I feel Sharon deserves this award.
Adult of the month: Cheryl Nichols
I want to nominate Cheryl Nichols for Courage. Cheryl’s life has been affected by the severe health issues that one of her sons in law is struggling with.
The facts of seeing loved ones struggle and being unable to do anything about it i.e. fix things, is a difficult one for any parent regardless of the age of your child. Cheryl is carrying a burden of worry and so many questions due to the health issues of Scott and the stress of her daughter; Karen. She helps take care of the three grandchildren her daughter and son in law have. Cheryl juggles her job as a teacher and her private life in a courageous and strong manner. She’s at school and provides the educational services to her students with dedication.
As she quietly carries the “torch of courage” we want her to now that we, her coworkers, are here for her and are praying for healing, comfort and strength.
