Adult of the month:
Ms. Kathy Barlow.
The many years that I have worked at Southern and have known Kathy, she has just amazed me with her stamina and perseverance. Kathy is one of these very dedicated people and will go above and beyond for her students and she will be there for them, whatever circumstances there are.
Kathy also doesn’t miss much regardless of what is going on in her personal life and or her health. This school year she has had issues with her knee but you wouldn’t know it. Kathy keeps on going as she is dealing with this. The few times that she does have to miss, she makes sure that her classroom is taken care of and that her afternoon duties are covered.
This is Kathy’s last year as a Kindergarten teacher, she is retiring at the end of this school year, and as she is working towards that goal, she continues to give 100 % towards her job as a teacher; making a difference in the lives of her students.
is one of my first grade students. Earlier in the school year, Diego had an emergency appendectomy. He ended up missing several weeks of school during this time. Even-though Diego received home bound services, he knew that he had missed some of the content that the other students had been learning about in class.
Once Diego made it back to school, he was very determined to make up for the time that he had missed and so he worked extra hard to catch up with his classmates.
Diego was successful in that so I applaud his effort to persevere and do what he needed to do
