January 2014: Optimism

Character Education winners January 2014: Optimism

I want to nominate second grade teacher; Ms. Ann Brainard as the adult for Optimism. To me, Ann Brainard definitely defines Optimism.

As a single parent she has tackled many issues, obstacles and diversities on her own. Even though these things have been happening, she remains with a positive attitude, and she has a bright outlook. Ann’s cup of life is considered half full and she will let those around her; students, co-workers and fellow men, know about it.

I believe a big part of Ann’s optimism has to do with her faith which is very strong and the rest is just her disposition.

I want to nominate fifth grade student Michael Watson as the Southern elementary student of the month.
If there is any student who always thinks the best of any situation it is Michael. Michael approaches each school day with a smile and begins each day thinking it is going to be as good day.

Although Michael may not say it is going to be a good day, you know this because he walks into s school smiling and excited.

Michael’s optimism does not fade when he is faced with a difficult or unhappy situation. He still continues to smile. Michael’s smile is there regardless and he definitely makes everyone’s day a bit more positive.
