Health Services

The Southern Elementary Health Services are provided through the Family Resource Center and we are pleased to inform you that we continue to offer on-site services.
Our school nurse, Mrs. Amy Wethington, is working five days a week at the school.

She is at school from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm and provides medications, and treats illnesses and injuries.

If your child will be taking daily medications at school, please be aware that paperwork completed by the physician that prescribed the medication, needs to be on file, at school, before such medication can be given.

If your student has any food allergies, please make our school nurse aware of these before the school year starts.

The school nurse can also provide hearing and vision screenings free of charge and change a valid out of state immunization record (if signed by a physician) to a Kentucky Immunization record.

Before your child can start Kindergarten and/ or Sixth Grade, he or she has to have a school physical and may need immunizations. These physicals can be completed up to one year before entering sixth grade.  Be smart and get prepared early. The Pulaski County Schools collaborates with the Lake Cumberland Medical Associates. The Mobile Health Unit will visit all Pulaski County schools on a regular bases to provide medical services to students and staff at each of the schools, if the appropriate paperwork has been completed and is on file.
They are able to provide school physicals, immunizations and sick visits and provide prescriptions at our school, in the Mobile Health Unit.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call our school nurse; Amy Wethington at 679 – 6940 .
